My travel groups the Naija adventurers and my humble self decided to explore our backyard on the 10th day of February   2017.  Our official agreed meeting point was at the famous City Park Wuse 11 by 5.30pm.  We could not actually leave by 6.pm which was our official take off time, because we have to wait for the rest of the members to arrive.  We left for our camping spot  Hope Eden Garden  Kuje” by 6.45pm and got there by 7.42pm. Hope Eden  is located in the surrounding of Abuja (approximately 50km) west of the city center and just 40 minutes drive from the International Airport. The estate is part of Kuje Area council and they are our official host for the night.
After settling we had roasted chicken, Pepper and garbage sauce with some chilled beer as dinner.
Set up our fire and the party began. The thing about camping at Hope Eden is that you will be
totally removed from civilization. And will be caressing with nature. We woke up Saturday morning, ate breakfast – then head towards the mountain which is located 1hr.30mins walk from Hope Eden.

It was so stressful walking through a deep jungle where the only thing that could be seen around is the bush fowl, Fulani herdsmen. We walked like 1hr.15mins before we saw a tiny Gwagi village in the  middle of nowhere. They were so scared seeing new faces with firearm.

Their chief was so worried.  We had to show them some of the pictures of our previous hike. He was not still convinced not until one of us told them that we are going for prayer section.
At this time most of us were so exhausted and needed a break. Surprisingly we saw a small shop by the corner  . The only shop that services the entire village . The shop owner complained to us in Hausa about how stressful it was for him  going to Kuje city center to purchase goods .

@ Jacqueline Amadi-ikpe getting some massage after a long walk . At the village shop
In order to hike the Kuje Mountain   first we have to climb up a path for about 35 minutes to reach it.

The mountain is like an arrow, with the collapsed ridge opening as its arrow nock.  The Kuje mountain section is known for its ruggedness and wild beauty, and you will be in awe of the marvelous views it affords. As soon as we reach the mountain we saw a deserted watchtower that gives a panoramic view of the entire valley. In the early morning the view is priceless with its morning fog. This section of the mountain is not well known by tourists, although if you see a picture of the Great mountain  from exotic traveling magazines, chances are it is from Kuje Mountain

After our hike we went back to Hope Eden  to pick up our stuff to return to the city center . In-case you are interested to book this tour please click here
