put the ‘E’ in Extreme Usman Dam Hiking.
I arrived at our official meeting point
around 8:15 AM met just few members of my group. We waited for another 1hr
for the rest of the group to arrive . We left the meeting point to Usman Dam around 9:15 Am on convoy , approaching Gwarinpa estate we experienced some serious set back as a result of our long convoy . But for us nothing stops us, some of our cars got scratched. And got slightly fixed and we moved again . Usman Dam its Just a 40km away from Abuja City center . We arrived around 9: 56 AM but couldn't access the facility as it is a sensitive
location from a security perspective. You will find guys with guns
looking a bit menacing if you try to get access .

Don't forget we visited as a group of about 45 . No proper pre visit arrangement was made, so we found the gates locked.
But with a little of Nigerian negotiations we
got in to the main reserve.
Then at the boat club itself more
negotiations and we were allowed in.

The hike was rugged, crazy, hard and full of fun. The trail
which lasted about 2 hours, led us across two mountain peaks .We were about 45 in number but only a few made it all the way to the second mountain peak . Surprisingly another 7 year old kid, who came along with her mum formed part of
the few that made it through the second mountain , while her mum, dropped on the way... In the end, she was given a heroine welcome like the last one .
